The Izhmash AK-101 is an assault rifle continuing the long line of the Kalashnikov series.

Unlike most other AKs, particularly the AK-74M, the AK-101 is designed for the world export market, using 5.56×45mm NATO rounds (common place with most NATO armies), instead of 5.45x39mm Soviet rounds. Essentially, it combines the logistical and familiarity of 5.56×45mm NATO round with the legendary reliability of a Kalashnikov.

Unlike earlier AK designs, the 101 is designed with modern and composite materials which help reduce weight and improve accuracy.

Despite this, The AK-101 isn't used by the Russian Armed Forces, or many countries for that matter. So far, only one faction is confirmed to use the AK-101.
